Cereal Milk Frozen Yogurt Directions:
Prep time: 25 minutes
Freeze time: 6-8 hours
Yields: 1 quart
24 hours in advance freeze the bowl of your ice cream maker.
Combine the yogurt, cereal milk, and sugar in a bowl. Whisk until the cereal milk and the sugar are completely incorporated, 1 to 2 minutes, and the mixture feels smooth between your fingers, not gritty.
If your yogurt mixture has warmed at all or if you want to wait to churn it for any reason, cover it and place it in the fridge until it has cooled to fridge temperature again.
When ready to churn, pour the cereal milk yogurt base into the ice cream machine. Churn until the yogurt has thickened to the texture of soft-serve or a thick milkshake (17 - 20 minutes on most machines).
Transfer the mixture into a freezer safe container or a loaf pan lined with parchment paper. Smooth the top. Press a piece of parchment against the top of the yogurt to prevent ice crystals from forming.
Freeze until solid, 6-8 hours.
When ready to serve, let the frozen yogurt sit on the counter for 20 to 30 minutes, until just soft enough to scoop. Use long, shallow strokes to form balls of frozen yogurt. Top with fruity cereal if using and serve right away.
Cereal Milk Directions:
Prep time: 3 minutes
Soak time: 30 minutes
Yields: 1 ¼ cups cereal milk
In a small bowl or jar combine the fruity cereal and whole milk. Allow to sit for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Strain out the solids, pressing to remove all of the liquid.
Use the strained cereal milk immediately to make Cereal Milk Frozen Yogurt or store for up to 3 days in the refrigerator.
